Loyalist Statement

Despite braking away from the totalitarian Imperium, the Imperial League's government does not support a radical redistribution of power. The Loyalist Statement follows a long Imperial tradition of government controlled press.

LEAGUE VESSELS ATTACKED IN EXCLUSION ZONE. DEFENSE FORCES CONDUCT MAJOR EXERCISES.

Ramad has reported that several League vessels were subjected to a brief but intense bombardment from Zethi raiders yesterday. One cargo vessel, the Bairda, suffered critical damage during the assault, that nearly claimed the lives of the entire crew. Several other League vessels reported damage as well.

The small flotilla was part of a Hyrunian-Rukira convoy that was operating out of the Hyrunian cluster of Tishu. The convoy was attacked numerous times by Zethi raiders while in transit to the Choyem cluster.

Ramad also announced that League official have issued a protest to the Zethi Commonwealth along with a request for compensation for the damage inflicted on League shipping.

In other news, the defense forces of the Imperial League have launched a major military exercise built around a possible invasion of the League territories by the Imperium's Throne Armada.

In his usual bombast, the Kalate has decried the war games as "the dangerous provacations of a wayward province." However, officials from the Vosha Monarchy have hailed Ramad for the splendid display of the Imperial Leagues fighting prowess. A personal representative of the Dovus along with several senior officers from the Monarchy's Crown Armada, have joined League officials in observing the exercises.

"The Kalate can grumble all he wants," said one visiting Monarchy official. "All he succeeds in doing is strengthening the resolve of the League states and the correctness of the Dovus' decision to offer the League the Monarchy's guarantee of protection."

RAMAD ANGERED BY RECENT ATTACKS; MATAUH TO MEET WITH MONARCHY.

Officials were noticeably concerned by the latest reports from the war raging in Hyrunian and Rukira space. The news of Zethi ships along the frontier and the possibility of fighting in clusters frequented by League interests have struck a note of alarm among many throughout the League.

The situation has only added to the growing frustration and anger on Ramad over the present state of hostilities and their impact on the economy.

Sources have indicated that Irrosan officials have informed Ramad of several new attacks involving League shipping. "The Zethi thirst for 'honor' and retribution against their enemies seems to have overridden their concerns for the rights of the innocent," said one source close to the Governor-General's office. Officials have confirmed that elements of the Emperor's Legion have been mobilized and dispatched from the capital to the frontier where they will bolster the patrol efforts of the Frontier Authority.

A late report from Ramad has indicated that Governor-General Matauh will meet with high level representatives from the Vosha Monarchy. The communiqué indicates that the Voti Dovus himself has dispatched the delegation.

MORE SHIPS DESTROYED IN ZETHI EXCLUSION ZONE. RAMAD TO TAKE ACTION.

Ramad disclosed the destruction of four and possibly five vessels belonging to the League today. The vessels reportedly succumbed to Zethi fire in the Hyrunian clusters of Choyem and Tishu.

As a result, Ramad has matched a similar order within the Vosha Monarchy, and ordered that immediate seizure of all Zethi owned vessels and assets found within the Imperial League. "Ramad will not stand by as its citizens and property are attacked without due reason or declaration of war," said Vala Lianta, personal aid and spokesperson for the Governor General's Office.

The news follows word of anti-Zethi rioting on the Vith Colony in Tavaya after it was reported that Zethi marauders destroyed the super transport Cala Braidin just across the frontier in the Hyrunian cluster of Lumalu.

SORAS DEMANDS SURRENDER! ZETHI SHIPS REPORTED ALONG FRONTIER.

In an unexpected development, the Chancellor of the Zethi Commonwealth has effectively issued an appeal for the Irrosa Homeworld Federation to surrender. The Zethi demand came in the form of a speech by the Zethi Chancellor. Reportedly, the text of the speech has been delivered to officials on the Hyrunian homeworld of Irrosa.

In light of the recent military setbacks suffered by the Central Alliance, in particular the losses incurred by the Federation Fleet, many experts believe that Irrosa's defiance and resolve to continue the fight may be eroding.

"The loss of the frontier colonies, the destruction of the Federation Fleet at Rifani, and the loss of Tal Mkgiza and Chora Dim have pushed the Federation to its breaking point," said Sula Ardan, former Fleet Admiral of the Emperor's Legion. "However, I must say that I have worked with many of Irrosa's top officers, and I would not put it beyond the Hyrunian character to continue the fight until the bitter end."

Indeed, many believe that the Zethi Commonwealth is simply playing for time while it prepares to move against the Hyrunian Home District. In the latest dispatches from the war, the Commonwealth Navy appears to have ground to a halt. Except for minor engagements with the Rukira, the Zethi appear to be pausing after their unprecedented offensive through Hyrunian and Rukira space. Zethi reconnaissance patrols have reportedly penetrated as far as the Hyrunian cluster of Lumalu, along the Federation-League Frontier.

The presence of these ships along the frontier and the escalating attacks on commercial shipping by Zethi marauders represents a growing concern for officials on Ramad.

ZETHI SMASH CONVOY, WRECK TRASIT STATION NEAR FRONTIER.

Officials from the Ministry of Information and Security have confirmed recent reports that a Federation convoy was savaged along the frontier by Zethi marauders.

The attack reportedly occurred several days ago along the periphery of the Hyrunian cluster of Lumalu. Although officials with the Federation embassy were unavailable for comment, Ramad is confirming that several large freighters were among the ships reported destroyed. Additionally, a Hyrunian transfer station and commercial dock were severely damaged during the ferocious assault.

Although it appears that no League vessels were harmed during the attack, news of the incident has alarmed many along the frontier. Zethi scouts have been operating within Lumalu for several weeks, however, up until a few days ago, the cluster has been relatively quiet.

In recent months, Soras’ arsenal ships have become a topic of dread among those forced to operate along the frontier. Many fear that this latest attack marks an escalation of Zethi attacks on Central Alliance commerce.

Ujita Athara, Captain of the League registered freighter Durithir was unfortunate enough to have been caught in a similar raid last month. "They like to have a small force chase ships into the jump zone and ambush them just as they hit hyperspace,” Captain Athara commented. “You don’t even know that these new Zethi ships have you zeroed until your ship starts to break up under your feet. If you make it back to real space, that’s when they send in the fighters and destroyers to clean up what’s left.”

LEGION DESTROYER FIRES ON ZETHI RAIDERS.

Late today, officials on Ramad announced that a destroyer from the Emperor’s Legion fired several volleys with Zethi raiders in a confrontation close to the Federation frontier. The announcement followed a report from Voti and Hyrunian sources that a League warship had been engaged in a brief confrontation with Commonwealth forces.

Ramad acknowledged that the action occurred on the Hyrunian side of the frontier, in an outlying system of the Lumalu cluster. Officials stated that the destroyer Doduine encountered three Zethi ships near a Hyrunian transit terminal. “The Doduine identified itself to the Zethi vessels and warned them off,” stated an official release. “Without replying, the Zethi continued to advance on the handful of freighters gathered at the terminal. It was then that the Doduine fired several warning volleys at the Zethi.” After several tense minutes, the Zethi withdrew without further incident.

The Doduine is one of several vessels from the Emperor’s Legion that have been deployed by Ramad to ensure the security of commercial traffic entering the Imperial League. This is the first such incident between Commonwealth and League vessels to be confirmed by Ramad.

Recent reports have indicated that the Zethi have stepped up their assaults on Alliance shipping. Sources on Ramad and Irrosa are reporting a recent jump of over 120% in the number of attacks by Zethi raiders.

RAMAD TO INCREASE SECURITY ALONG FRONTIER.

Ramad plans to deploy additional warships to the frontier to further bolster the efforts of security forces to secure shipping from attacks by Zethi marauders. Governor-General Matauh made the announcement today during a meeting with Monarchy Minister of State Kusa Katryl.

The Central Powers War and the recent events along the frontier were the chief topics of discussion. Governor-General Matauh expressed Ramad’s growing concern over the extension of the Zethi “exclusion zone” and the possibility that the fighting may spill across the Federation frontier and into League territory.

The recent confrontation between a group of Zethi marauders and a Legion destroyer along the frontier underscored Ramad’s concerns.

Sources have indicated that significant elements of the Emperor’s Legion have already been deployed to the frontier. The decision to deploy additional elements of the Legion to the frontier was apparently made immediately after the latest incident in Lumalu.

LEGION WARSHIPS MOVE TO FRONTIER; NEW REPORTS OF ZETHI ATTACKS IN LUMALU.

Provisional Defense Council on Ramad is reporting that additional warships from the elite Emperor’s Legion have reached the Federation frontier. Officials confirmed that the 21st Assault Group and the 7th CVL Group were mobilized several days ago and have already joined elements of the 1st Defense Corps already in place along the frontier.

The deployment is welcome news to the commercial shippers based along the frontier. In recent weeks, Zethi attacks have increased in number as well as ferocity. As if to underscore the need for the deployment of additional security forces, a mixed convoy of Hyrunian and League ships reached Majarra after setting out from the Hyrunian cluster of Lumalu several days ago. Five ships were lost to Zethi attacks before the convoy could enter League space.

Early reports from the convoy indicated that their Zethi attackers pursued them for some distance into League territory before breaking off. However, authorities on Ramad have not confirmed these reports.

J.E.F. ON THE MOVE AS ZETHI SMASH ALLIANCE SHIPPING. LEGION VESSELS FIRE ON ZETHI RAIDERS.

There is word of a developing battle between Admiral Kerpesha’s J.E.F. and the Zethi forces stationed in outer systems of the Tsefa cluster. No official word has yet been received, however, well placed sources indicated that a significant action involving units of the Hyrunian J.E.F. is underway.

The news follows several days of violent attacks against Alliance shipping. In the past four days, Zethi raiders have reportedly destroyed twenty-seven vessels in Tsefa, Choyem and Lumalu and left another sixteen crippled or heavily damaged in a series of brutal attacks that claimed the lives of hundreds of non combatants.

Officials on Ramad are confirming that several Legion vessels fired on Zethi warships when they made threatening moves toward a flotilla of ships that included many Imperial League vessels. Officials referred to the thwarted attack as a “near incident” and reiterated Ramad’s pledge to protect the right of Imperial and Monarchy shipping along the frontier.

COMMERCIAL VESSELS, ONE WARSHIP HIT IN CONFRONTATION WITH ZETHI. TSEFA EXPLODES IN BATTLE.

Ramad is reporting today that several ships belonging to the Imperial League and the Voti owned Vokabu Shipping were attacked in the latest Zethi raids along the Federation frontier. At least three vessels were destroyed and several others crippled in the attack.

Sources are reporting that the attack occurred near Lumalu and that the confrontation ended in a skirmish between Legion and Zethi warships. According to reports, the Legion warships answered a general call for help by a Hyrunian warship escorting a small flotilla of freighters and transports that included several League registered vessels. One Legion Destroyer was reported to have suffered minor damage in the action.

Officials on Ramad have stated that they will release an official statement on the incident tomorrow. However, quietly, several officials applauded the action, saying that the quick action of the Legion prevented another Zethi massacre.

According to late reports from Hyrunian space, elements of the J.E.F. have attacked Zethi positions in Tsefa. J.E.F. activity in the cluster has been steadily increasing for several weeks. One report stated that three separate strike groups, under the command of Admiral Kerpesha, have lashed out at a variety of Zethi targets, disrupting Commonwealth transit and supply operations in Tsefa and the Irroshir Region.

One source stated that since both sides lack a clear advantage in the region, they have both resorted to raids and counter raids.

ZETHI HIT LEAGUE FREIGHTERS! LEGION WARSHIPS RETURN FIRE!

Ramad is reporting that the Zethi have ravaged yet another commercial convoy, destroying or damaging several innocent and harmless civilian freighters. An unspecified number of League vessels were reportedly involved in the attack. However, Ramad has released no official word on casualties.

At this hour, several sources within the Imperial Navy are stating that at least one League registered freighter was destroyed. Officials on Ramad have confirmed earlier reports that Legion warships engaged the attacking force, damaging at least one Zethi warship in the exchange.

The flotilla was reportedly attacked in one of the outer systems in the Hyrunian cluster of Pleshti, one of the few corners of the Federation to have escaped the violence of the recent war.

There have been unconfirmed reports that Zethi forces pursued the convoy into League territory before breaking off and returning to Hyrunian space.

ACTION NEAR TAVAYA! IMPERIAL NAVY DESTROYS ZETHI CRUISER!

Forces from the Imperial Navy have destroyed a Zethi warship that had violated League territory. Ramad is reporting that the engagement occurred along the Hyrunian frontier near the Tavaya cluster and involved a vessel tentatively identified as a Zethi cruiser of the Zorusart or Ordak class.

According to official sources, Ramad and the Imperial Navy are still collecting information on the incident; however, they have reported that the hostile vessel was completely destroyed after refusing to yield to units of the Imperial Navy.

At this hour, officials have only released a brief statement condemning the latest violation of League space that also stated that Governor-General Matauh is “considering a variety of responses to the Zethi’s latest provocation.”

RAMAD CHALLENGES EXCLUSION ZONE.

A spokesman for Governor-General Matauh confirmed that key elements of the Imperial Navy have been placed on alert and moved to the frontier to “deter further acts of aggression by the Zethi Commonwealth.”

When asked, officials would not rule out the possibility of extending the operations of the Imperial Navy include Federation clusters along the frontier. “Direct action may be required to ensure the continued safety of commerce along the frontier,” stated an official representative. “Elements of the Emperor’s Legion and the Imperial League are already operating in Hyrunian clusters of Lumalu, Skaam and Pleshti.”

In a statement released earlier today, Vice Governor Haldair commented that Ramad, in no way, shape, or form, recognizes the Commonwealth’s so called ‘exclusion zone.’ Soras has no right to attack, board, or otherwise molest non combatant vessels.”

GOVERNOR-GENERAL MATAUH: “EFFECTIVE STATE OF WAR EXISTS.”

Governor-General Matauh has declared a general state of emergency and has decreed that all elements of the Imperial Defense Forces be placed on maximum alert. The move was preceded by a prepared set of remarks in which the Governor-General proclaimed that an “effective state of war exists between the Commonwealth and the Imperial League.”

There has been an outpouring of widespread support throughout the colonies. On the Vith Colony, hordes of anti-Zethi protesters spontaneously gathered around the Legion’s Uathal Facility, a chorus of wild cheers erupting at the sight of every departing shuttle.

There are reports of continued fighting in the Lumalu cluster. Officials have disclosed that elements of the Emperor’s Legion have been in direct combat with Zethi warships; however, no details were reported.

It was confirmed that authorities are currently meeting with Federation officials to finalize plans for coordinating Imperial Navy and Federation Fleet operations.

ZETHI RAIDERS ROUTED BY EMPEROR’S LEGION.

Ramad has reported that elements of the elite Emperor’s Legion engaged and “virtually destroyed” a force of Zethi marauders operating in the Lumalu cluster.

According to reports, the Emperor’s Legion destroyed several Zethi warships as they were regrouping from a failed attempt to attack a large convoy being shepherded through the outskirts of the Lumalu cluster.

A well-placed source reported that the convoy’s protectors dispersed the initial Zethi attack and that several of the attackers sustained serious damage during the exchange. The Zethi reportedly retreated into a neighboring system to regroup, apparently unaware that Legion warships had only just occupied the system hours before.

“Before they could mount an effective reaction, half of their force was hunted down and destroyed immediately after they retrojected into the system,” stated one official.

MATAUH FORESEES DEFEAT FOR THE ZETHI COMMONWEALTH.

In a statement released by Ramad, Governor-General Matauh proclaimed that he foresees the defeat of the Zethi Commonwealth. In the brief statement, the Governor stated that “together, the citizens of the League and the Central Alliance will repulse the Commonwealth’s predatory assaults.”

The Emperor’s Legion has established a powerful presence in the cluster of Lumalu. Ramad is reporting that there has already been a noticeable abatement in the number of attacks by Zethi marauders and commerce raiders.

According to Ramad, units of the Imperial Navy have established equally strong positions within the Pleshti cluster and are currently engaged in aggressive anti-raider patrols.

League and Federation officials have announced that the Federation Fleet is already experiencing the effect of the reinforced lifeline of supplies poring in from the Imperial League and the outer clusters of the Federation. According to Federation representatives, badly needed provisions have already begun to make their way to Viosk, where Admiral Jadara’s 3rd Fleet continues to battle the advances of Marshal Aloftegi’s Zethi forces.

LEGION HAMMERS ZETHI RAIDERS.

Zethi raiders, attempting to stab at Alliance positions in Pleshti, were pummeled by a powerful formation of warships from the Emperor’s Legion. Ramad reported that two enemy ships were destroyed and that several others sustained direct hits during the melee.

Officials stated that the action occurred in the Komudu system in Pleshti. Irrosa also reported Zethi activity in Lumalu and Skaam.

There has still been no word from Irroshir since Zethi forces overwhelmed the main transit node in the system. However, there have been some indications that there are strong pockets of resistance remaining within the system.

RUKIRA OFFENSIVE LANCES INTO ZAPALNIACH. STUNNED ZETHI SCRAMBLE TO MEET ALLIANCE FORCES.

According to official reports, the onward crush of Rukira forces is continuing to move through the outer colonies of the Hashir Alliance. Rukira warships were reportedly slicing their way through the Zapalniach cluster and meeting uneven but fierce resistance from the occupying Zethi.

Enemy activity along the frontier has reportedly diminished in recent days. “There has been a clear drop in incidents involving Zethi raiders,” stated one Imperial Navy official. Similar reports have been received from Irrosa where the Zethi offensive through Keshwayem appears to have rolled to a halt following the Federation Fleet’s retreat from the Afu Palia system.

Imperial Navy and J.E.F. sources have stated that the Zethi have undoubtedly realized the importance of the Zapalniach cluster and are shifting their available forces to meet the threat posed by Admiral Smotekleir’s attack.
