Supported in part by the government, the Voice of Irrosa is supportive in its press of its benefactor. The Voice often gives factual accounts of the stories it reports on, however, story selection is sometimes biases in favor of the Federation government.
HOME GOVERNMENT ECHOS LYGALT ACCUSATIONS OF ZETHI SUBTERFUGE.
Senior Council member Fikir Mazrek of the Home District echoed the accusations made by the Lygalt Authorities that the Zethi Commonwealth has been secretly supprting the unrest within the the Sakoras Region.
"Clearly their[Zethi] goal is to destabilize the frontier by formenting violence within the Sakoras Region."
Councilor Mazrek went on to add that the Senior Council was "confident in the Lygalt Authority's ability to maintain order and to protect the Hyrunian enclaves of Vorajesa."
PRIME MAGISTRATE ZOPILIAZ, SENIOR COUNCIL VOW TO PROTECT HYRUNIAN INTERESTS.
Representatives of the Senior Council emphatically denied that regular units of Federation Security or units of the En Tabak [Special Purpose Police] had been dispatched to Vorajesa. The spokesman reiterated that the non-native Hyrunians who have been sighted were "volunteers who had left the Federation to help protect the native Hyrunian enclaves of Vorajesa from assault by Zethi sponsored murderers and terrorists."
The statement from the Senior Council went on to blame what are clearly outside agents that have generated dissent and violence within the region. Both the Senior Council and the office of the Prime Magistrate were adamant in vowing to protect the Federation's interests and the Hyrunian enclaves of the region.
PRIME MAGISTRATE, SENIOR COUNCIL DENY FEDERATION INVOLVEMENT.
Prime Magistrate Zopiliaz emphatically denied any Federation involvement in the attempted theft of the Zethi freighter Brutak. And stated that "at best, the Zethi's unsubstantiated accusations are irresponsible and at worst, they are a sinister attempt to further inflame the situation in the Ministate."
Councilor Fikir Mazrek voiced the Senior Council's support for the Prime Magistrate's statement, saying that this was a clear example of Zethi aggression, and went further by questioning whether there had even been a hijacking at all. "To our knowledge, the only facts that are indisputable are that elite Zethi security units illegally violated the frontier and engaged in a brief but intense fight with various elements of Lygalt and Federation security."
ZOPILIAZ AND THE SENIOR COUNCIL DENY KNOWLEDGE OF "LYGALT CONNECTION."
The office of the Prime Magistrate and the Senior Council repeated their denials of any official Federation involvement in the Brutak Affair and the existence of any "Lygalt connection." Councilor Viazi Kefet of the Senior Council was quoted as saying that the Zethi allegations were "meant to draw attention away from their [Zethi] attempts to destabilize the Sakoras Region." He also added that the so-called hijacking was an "elaborate and determined effort by the Zethi Commonwealth to justify a possible invasion of the Sakoras Region."
High level meetings have been called between Hyrunian and Rukira officials of the Central Alliance to discuss the growing crisis. One official who wished to remain unnamed stated that the Central Alliance was considering placing the Rukira-Hyrunian Joint Expeditionary Fleet (J.E.F.) on a heightened state of alert.
ZOPILIAZ SLAMS ZETHI "THREATS;" AGREES TO LAUNCH IMMEDIATE INVESTIGATION.
Prime Magistrate Umri Zopiliaz condemned the "language of threats" that has emerged from the Zethi Commonwealth in recent days and vowed the Hyrunian people would not be cowed by the "bold and irresponsible talk" of the Zethi officials.
The Magistrate pledged to investigate the various charges of Hyrunian complicity in the recent disturbances along the frontier but refused to budge from the "entreated right of the Sakoras Region to remain neutral and self administered."
IRROSA WILL NOT BEND TO ALIEN THREATS.
Since receiving the Zethi ultimatum, Federation officials have spent the day in urgent meetings. However, in an angry and defiant tone, Prime Magistrate Zopiliaz released a brief statement in which he said "the Hyrunian race would not yield to threats and intimidation from the Zethi Commonwealth or any other government." A spokesman for the Senior Council called the Zethi Commonwealth's ultimatum an "offensive farce," and stated that the Irrosa Homeworld Federation would respond to the Zethi's latest provocation in due course.
IRROSA DISMISSES ZETHI "THREATS;" ZOPILIAZ DECLARES "IMINENT STATE OF WAR EXISTS."
The Homeworld Government has responded to the Commonwealth's ultimatum in a strongly worded statement signed by the Prime Magistrate and released by the Senior Council.
The statement outlines Irrosa's refusal to submit to alien "threats" of violence and intimidation. The official statement was relayed to officials throughout the Known Sphere and stressed "the entreated right of the Sakoras Region to be independently administered in the Talosa Tigra Accords." The official release also declared that "it will never be the intention of Irrosa to surrender our territory or our citizens and to see them delivered to a hostile foreign power."
The statement concluded by also warning the Zethi that the Irrosa Homeworld Federation would "take measures to actively thwart any effort to violate the Sakoras frontier and would respond vigorously to any violation of Federation territory."
In a separate statement, Prime Magistrate Zopiliaz declared that "an imminent state of war exists" and ordered all sections responsible for the defense of the Federation to be brought up to full strength. The Prime Magistrate also called upon our Rukira allies to honor their obligations under the Central Alliance Pact and match the mobilization of the Federation Fleet.
ZETHI STRIKE!
In a shameful and cynical statement, the Zethi Commonwealth has declared war on the Children of Irrosa (See Declaration). Zethi forces have invaded the Sakoras Region. At this hour, units from Lygalt Security and the Frontier Authority have been engaged in a fierce effort to resist the Zethi move into the Sakoras Region.
Irrosa reports that the Federation Fleet is moving to engage the Zethi and that a formal declaration of war against the Zethi by the Central Alliance will be issued shortly.
HOMEWORLD REPORTS GAIN IN DILIGADO CLUSTER; SIX ZETHI VESSELS DESTROYED.
Homeworld officials have reported that units from the Frontier Authority have launched a counter thrust into the Sakoras Region. The action was reported to have occurred just over the Sakoras frontier and was centered on the Diligado cluster. The Frontier Authority reported the destruction of no less than six Commonwealth vessels.
There were no reports of any Hyrunians losses from the engagement. Officials on Irrosa have trumpeted the success as proof that "even the greatest foe cannot stand before the determination and ingenuity of the Hyrunian race."
ADMIRAL JADARA ADVANCES ON ZETHI; "FURIOUS BATTLES" FOUGHT ALONG FRONTIER.
Admiral Jadara's 3rd Fleet has reportedly engaged Zethi forces in what have been called "furious battles for control of the frontier." Grand Admiral Vada Mazrat made the remarks during a conference on Irrosa. He announced that the Zethi have directed their efforts toward the frontier clusters of Banu, Mdiyo, Zinaroba and Upu Tuni.
Mazrat stated that the raid on the Rukira cluster of Zapalniach was "obviously intended to draw the attention of the Hyrunian and Rukira commands away from the frontier." He also added that the reports of the Rukira 6th Fleet being crippled in the raid were false and bordered on sedition.
He also hinted that elements of Admiral Kerpesha's J.E.F. may be deployed to aid Admiral Jadara's efforts along the Federation's frontier.
ADMIRAL JADARA HOLDS ZETHI AT MDIYO; MAJOR BATTLE LIKELY.
Admiral Jadara and the valiant warriors of the I.H.F.'s 3rd Fleet continue to frustrate Zethi's attempts to wrest control of the Mdiyo cluster from Hyrunian hands. Fleet units and reserves are being rushed to the Mdiyo cluster to support 3rd Fleet's heroic efforts.
Homeworld Fleet Command has also ordered elements of Admiral Gavoya's 1st Fleet to sortie from the Home District and move to Tal Mkgiza. There, they will be in a position to support the defense of the frontier and counter any unwise thoughts the Zethi may have of venturing into the Zinaroba cluster.
Irrosa reports that Admiral Lamenket's 2nd Fleet is continuing to mass in the Rifani cluster. The latest word from Lamenket's Headquarters reported that his units had inflicted grievous damage upon the Zethi attack force in the Apila cluster.
ZETHI ADVANCE "TEMPORARY." JADARA MOVES TO CHORA DIM TO REGROUP; BANU, RIFANI OFFER STIFF RESISTANCE.
Homeworld Fleet Command has announced that Admiral Jadara has returned to Chora Dim to direct 3rd Fleet's effort to hold the Zethi in Mdiyo. They also released a statement calling the Zethi capture of Mdiyo "temporary."
Officials have pointed out that although the primary transit node for the Mdiyo cluster has fallen into Zethi hands, 3rd Fleet still retains possession of several smaller nodes that maintain direct links between Mdiyo's outer systems and the Chora Dim cluster.
Fleet reports have indicated that the Zethi have curtailed their effort in Banu after encountering stiff resistance. Additional reports have stated that Admiral Lamenket's 2nd Fleet has repulsed several Zethi attacks in Rifani.
ZOPILIAZ ADDRESSES FEDERATION: "GREAT CONFRONTATION IS UNDERWAY."
Irrosa has announced that the Hyrunian led J.E.F. is engaged in an "epic confrontation" with the Zethi fleet. No official word has been received from the Irroshir cluster since all communications and transit were suspended by order of the local authorities and Admiral Kerpesha of the J.E.F.
Sources have reported that the Admiral ordered the dramatic action following reports that the Zethi have been able to seize control of Rukira and Hyrunian transit nodes. However, officials still insist that the Central Alliance's transit network has not been compromised.
Following the announcement of the attack on Irroshir and the failure of several efforts by the Federation units to relieve Admiral Lamenket's 2nd Fleet in Rifani, Prime Magistrate Zopiliaz addressed Irrosa and the colonies in a Federation wide broadcast.
The Prime Magistrate struck a defiant tone as he declared that a "great confrontation is underway." He cautioned Hyrunians to not lose hope in the face of the latest news from Irroshir and Rifani. As he closed, he intoned that "faith and blood will still bring victory, and in the end, it will be the strength of the Hyrunian race that will break the will of our invaders."
2ND FLEET REFUSES TO YIELD AS FIERCE BATTLE RAGES IN RIFANI AS ZETHI FIRE ON CIVILIAN VESSELS.
Admiral Lamenket and the heroic warriors of 2nd Fleet continue to offer fierce resistance to Zethi attempts to close off the Rifani colonies. Lamenket's Headquarters has reported that hundreds have been killed and countless more injured during attempts to evacuate civilians from the cluster.
Officials on Irrosa have confirmed that the Zethi have made no effort to distinguish between ships of the Federation Fleet and non-military vessels attempting to evacuate civilians to Irrosa. The Senior Council has released an official statement declaring that "this latest act of savagery underscores the fact there can be no surrender with the Zethi."
J.E.F. FIGHTS TO RETAIN IRROSHIR; RAIDERS CLAIM ZETHI CARRIER IN RIFANI.
Admiral Kerpesha and the J.E.F continue to hold their positions around the strategic Irroshir cluster. Irrosa is reporting that "despite the determined efforts of the invaders, the Zethi have so far failed to capture the Irroshir cluster and its vital transit node."
Dispatches from Admiral Lamenket's Headquarters in the Rifani cluster have indicated that raiders from 2nd fleet have destroyed a Zethi carrier and several of its escorts in the Taryn system.
In a brief address today, Prime Magistrate Zopiliaz hailed the "heroic efforts of brave defenders of the Hyrunian race." The Prime Magistrate stated that "our troops are fighting with an energy and a determination demonstrated by the weighty efforts exerted by the enemy, and in all encounters, they are inflicting heavy losses on the invaders."
J.E.F. UNITS RAID TUTANI SYSTEM, KILL ZETHI BATTLESHIP IN 18 HOUR DUEL
Irrosa reported that the J.E.F. has executed a surprise raid on the Zethi forces gathered in the Tutani system, in the outskirts of the Upu Tuni cluster. Admiral Kerpesha's Headquarters reported that our forces succeeded in destroying several Zethi warships, including the battleship Mosta'jer and a Mobile Facility that the Zethi had erected in the system.
The action was reportedly undertaken by units of the J.E.F. that had successfully infiltrated the Upu Tuni cluster. The raiders target was a Zethi supply dump. Once in system, the raiders encountered little resistance as they attacked a Zethi supply dump, quickly destroying two Zethi transports, a fueler, and a repair tug before the appearance of the Zethi battleship Mosta'jer interrupted their attack.
Irrosa reports that the strike unit shifted its attack to the Zethi battleship. What ensued was an eighteen-hour duel before the Zethi dreadnought was destroyed. Unable to pursue the retreating Zethi auxiliaries, the raiders withdrew after pausing briefly to destroy the Zethi base.
SILDATH BOWS OUT AS SENATE DECLARES NEUTRALITY.
In a surprising move, the Sildatha Alliance has officially declared itself neutral. Sildath watchers on Homeworld have voiced their shock at the unexpected decision of the Sildathi Senate, a sentiment undoubtedly shared by many of our Zethi enemies.
The Sildathi proclamation is a major blow to the Zethi Commonwealth and would seem to corroborate reports of a rift between the Zethi and the Sildathi governments. Many officials on Irrosa and Hashir have interpreted the actions of the Sildathi Senate as a backhanded repudiation of the Zethi Commonwealth's recent actions.
Councilor Mazrat commented, "If the declaration of the Sildathi government is indeed true, then it seems that the Zethi will be forced to prosecute their illegal war of aggression with neither the aid nor the approval of Sildath. However, only time can truly establish how far the Sildathi are prepared to distance themselves from the actions of their allies."
ZETHI LAUNCH MAJOR RAID IN ZINAROBA; ADMIRAL GAVOYA'S FORCES INFLICT "HEAVY" CASUALTIES ON ZETHI.
Homeworld officials have announced that the Zethi have launched a major raid against Zinaroba, causing considerable damage and disruption to the transit and communication network. However, officials reported that a combined force under the command of Admiral Gavoya has engaged the Zethi in a series of engagements that have been characterized as "intense and at times confused."
Homeworld authorities are also reporting that the Zethi appear to have drawn back from their attack on Zinaroba after suffering "heavy" loses in ships and personnel. Reports from Irrosa indicate that the Zethi aerospace wings were particularly hard hit during the battle. The latest dispatches have indicated that the Zethi have lost several capital vessels, with Admiral Gavoya's command claiming at least two Zethi carriers severely damaged or destroyed along with a light cruiser [CL] and three destroyers [DD].
Admiral Gavoya's damaged units have been ordered to retire from Zinaroba and proceed to the Federation's mid-range clusters of Tal Mkgiza and Chora Dim.
SENIOR COUNCIL ENACTS TOUGH EMERGENCY SECURITY MEASURES.
In the interest of the public safety and the common good, the Senior Council has enacted a series of security measures aimed at protecting preserving order and ensuring the ultimate victory of the Federation.
By order of the Senior Council, all large public gatherings are to be discouraged as well as unnecessary use of the Federation's transit network for travel and communications. To help protect the public good, the En Tabak has been granted wide new powers of investigation and has been tasked with rooting out those guilty of sedition and activities that threaten the Federation.
The Senior Council has also moved to freeze all wages and authorize compulsory overtime for those positions and industries considered vital to the Federation and the war effort. In addition, the Senior Council has ordered that all males between the ages of twelve and fifty report to their local Security Office for special registration. Failure to heed any of the new measures will result in "swift and decisive penalties."
The official statement of the Senior Council concluded by quoting the works of the late Hyrunian scholar Tala Halyem, "we are Hyrunian. It is our lot to brave the embrace of Mother Fortune and her fickle pronouncements and thrive where others would perish."
ZOPILIAZ: "WE SHALL PREVAIL."
In a public address, Prime Magistrate Zopiliaz offered defiant words of encouragement to the Federation population.
Speaking of the recent setbacks to the Federation Fleet, he declared "The Federation has been forced to pay for its mistakes with great sacrifices. Despite the colossal defeat at Rifani and the tragic loss of so many of our finest sons, we must not be given to despair or content with surrender."
He warned the public not to "overestimate the brilliance of the Zethi."
Amid the cheers of a full assembly, he urged, "Our faith and purpose remain unaltered. We shall never yield. We shall endure the pains of war with strength and confidence. We shall see the Zethi break their weapons before our gates. We shall see them driven from our homes. We shall prevail."
DEATH OF A HERO.
Homeworld has announced that Admiral Lamenket was among those killed during the recent evacuation from Rifani.
One of Irosa's favored sons, the noble born Admiral Lamenket was a respected member of the Federation Fleet and a highly regarded member of the Vlo'Papokesh kitavka. The Admiral was well known for his ability to inspire and lead those surrounding him as well as his devotion to those fortunate enough to serve under his command.
Irrosa has indicated that the Admiral met his end leading the effort to break the Zethi cordon in the Ta'Blus system. "He died the way he wanted-carrying the fight to the enemy," said one spokesman from Irrosa.
Officials have reported that after withdrawing to the home clusters, 2nd Fleet is being reformed under the newly promoted Admiral Varleyta. Known for his aggressiveness and efficiency, Admiral Varleyta has been a rising star among the Federation. A member of the fearsome Yazahd kitavka, the capable Varleyta was the protégé of Admiral Tir Kerpesha before being promoted to second in command of Admiral Lamenket's 2nd Fleet. At Rifani, he led the harrowing withdraw from the Zethi trap that prevented 2nd Fleet from being destroyed.
ADMIRAL KERPESHA: "IROSHIR SHALL NOT FALL;" FEDERATION FLEET REGROUPS IN ANTICIPATION OF ZETHI MOVEMENT.
J.E.F. commander Admiral Kerpesha has informed Fleet Command that it is his intention to hold the Irroshir Colony against the Zethi onslaught. "The Zethi have been kind enough to reveal where we must concentrate our efforts. We have transformed the Irroshir Colony into a fortress that the Zethi approach at their peril. That fortress shall remain inviolate, Irroshir shall not fall."
Homeworld officials have indicated that the Irroshir Colony has been the focus of a tremendous effort to protect the cluster's vital transit link with the Hashir Alliance. Although Irroshir has lost contact with Zapalniach, it maintains an active link with the Rukira cluster of Tocyzckolo. In addition, the main node in the colony maintains open links with the Pleshti, Tishu, Tsefa, and Chora Dim clusters. "The whole of the Irroshir cluster may be defiled by the presence of Zethi, but Irroshir should prove too much, even for their monstrous appetites," said one Fleet official.
While the Zethi seem to have moved their focus to the Irroshir Colony, the Federation Fleet has been busily regrouping. In addition to Irroshir, the defense of Tal Mkgiza and Chora Dim have been given top priority.
The defenses of the Home District continue to strengthen each day. Homeworld has reported that the production of munitions and other vital supplies have more than tripled in recent days. Officials have also reported that rapid conversion of civilian craft for military use is ahead of schedule, already adding several fighter and gunboat tenders to the Federation Fleet.
